Standing seam vs. stone-coated steel
Metal roofing has gone mainstream in South Florida for one reason: it survives hurricanes and shrugs off the sun for 40+ years.
Standing seam
Flat panels with raised vertical seams. Modern, minimal, mechanical look. Highest wind ratings. Concealed fasteners.
Stone-coated steel
Steel panels with a stone-chip surface that mimics tile or shake. Reads as a traditional roof from the street. Slightly lower install cost.
How to pick
- Modern home, no HOA restrictions, want the longest life: standing seam.
- Traditional home, HOA wants tile look, value matters: stone-coated steel.
Both carry our wind mitigation paperwork. Both will outlast the loan.
